Phantom 25yrs later
My wife and I saw the PTO production 25 years ago when we were not married. We went to the current production on our anniversary. The older production was good, but the new one was spectacular. Here are my specific comments:
1. We went on opening night to the older production. The chandelier malfunctioned. At the matinee for the current production, not only did the chandelier work, it was phenomenal...the pyrotechnics were awesome.
2. The actors in the older show were also older. The men in the new show are younger and very vibrant. The Phantom was particularly outstanding. Christine's performance was fabulous.
3. The sets were outstanding. Most memorable moment was the Phantom and Christine descending to his lair. The steps coming out of the wall were unexpected and impressive.
4. The sound system was obviously upgraded. Whispers could be heard, and voices could be projected to the back of the auditorium.
5. Finally, the orchestra was superb. I understand they used some local talent, which I am always in favor of.
Thank you for bringing the wonderful production to Hawaii. My wife and I will probably take in another performance, this time in the evening.
